Audience
Zumba instructors teaching a beginner class.
Problem
Some instructors introduce movement without a structured progression, leaving beginners without the confidence, coordination, and foundational skills needed to participate safely, enjoyably, and consistently.
Solution
The goal of this training is to help Zumba instructors lead beginner classes safely and effectively. Instructors will learn how to teach beginner routines using clear progression, cueing, and modifications. Effective instruction helps participants move safely, build confidence, and enjoy the class. Without these teaching strategies, participants may struggle to follow movements, increasing the risk of injury and reducing enjoyment. By improving the beginner experience, this training aims to increase participant retention and class attendance by 80%.

Process
This training was developed using the ADDIE model to guide the process from identifying the learning need through designing, developing, and evaluating the final course. A design document was created to outline the course goals, audience, objectives, and overall strategy. The Storyboard was created to provide a detailed plan for the content, visuals, and learner interactions before development began. Using Kirkpatrick's level 2 of evaluation, there is a knowledge check and a four question scenario-based graded assessment. Each question will apply the learners new knowledge, and they need 75% to pass. Kirkpatrick's level 3 would be to come back one month after the training was completed. Instructors would be observed during a live class to see how effectively they implement the training. Then a follow-up interview would be conducted with the instructor to discuss changes in participant engagement and retention. This would include whether they have observed improvements in attendance, participant confidence, or repeat participation since apply the training.

Process
This training was designed using the ADDIE model to provide a structured approach from identifying the learning need through design, development, implementation, and evaluation. A Design Document was created to establish the course goals, target audience, learning objectives, and instructional strategy, providing a clear foundation for the development of the training. Using Kirkpatrick's level 2 of evaluation, there are four knowledge checks throughout the training, and a four question scenario-based graded assessment. Each question will apply the learners new knowledge, and they need 75% to pass. Kirkpatrick's level 3 would be to come back one month after the training was completed and observe the employee's interactions with customers. Is the training being implemented through conversation? Two months after the training, employee's would be evaluated on customer satisfaction. Are customers needs being met? This will then be followed by how has training implementation changed sales.
